Prison Ministry in Uganda

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Matthew 25:34-36

We have teams ministering in prisons on a continual basis. Access to the prions is usually easy. The Ugandan government provides the yellow jump suites all prisoners wear, but other items like underwear, personal hygiene items, sheets and blankets must come from family members or prison ministries. You can assist in the by your donation to our "Prison Ministry." Items we purchase for prisoners are:

  • Prison Bibles, purchased in the USA in bulk, $ 3.00 per Bible
  • Toothpaste - purchased in Uganda, $ 1.50 per tube
  • Toothbrushes - purchased in Uganda, $ .75 each
  • Soap - purchased in Uganda, $ .75 per bar
  • Underwear - purchased in Uganda, $ 2.00 per pair
  • Blankets - purchased in Uganda, $ 8.00 each
  • Sheets - purchased in Uganda, $ 6.00 per set

Some question the value and effectiveness of prison ministry. Anyone who have done any such ministry at all, will tell you they have never met anyone who would admit their guilt. Yet there are also countless stories of lives that have been changed forever by such efforts. I have seen first hand the intense witnessing to one man who was unmoved, but another in the room, overheard the entire conversation and was converted. In prison, as everywhere else, evangelism must be intentional.
