This is another special light. Sarah had polio which left her legs paralyzed. After her husband was killed in a traffic accident, she allowed her children to be adopted by an American couple as she could not properly care for them by herself. She struggles just to survive. Her livelihood is in this small African souvenir shop, a simple metal building which she rents and in which she lives. At night she sleeps on a matt on the floor. The building has no power, no water, etc. This light allows her not only to see, but allows someone to looks for gifts after dark. It has the added benefit of allowing her to keep her mobile phone charged, a service she had been paying for. 8/12 |
