Used Eye Glasses
and
Reading Glasses
Back to Projects | Back to Hayes Ministry | Uganda Mission Home

Most Ugandan's in the villages have never had their eyes examined or even seen the big "E" chart we are all familiar with. So helping them see better is a wonderful blessing. We do this in three ways

  1. People like you donate their old prescription eye glasses to ACTI and we take them to Uganda. It is very interesting to see someone try on two or three dozen pairs of glasses until they find a pair the helps them see better. You also the see men wearing ladies glasses and vice versa but if they can see, it is just fine. Mail old prescription glasses to:

    Africa Christian Training Institute
    P O Box 15621
    Panama City FL 32406-5621
  2. Interested folks donate funds and we purchased new reading glasses from area stores and take them for distribution. Send your contribution to the address above. Clearly indicate it is for reading glasses project.

  3. We have an American ophthalmologist who regularly works with ACTI in Uganda. He has equipment in Uganda to do cataract surgery and is helping train Ugandan eye doctors as well. He periodically makes trip to remote villages and does cataract screening and then we bring the patient to Kampala for surgery. We have even brought one gentleman to the US for surgery to prevent blindness. As you can image, this is a intense ministry and costly. If you would like to help with this project, please contact me by email and I will give you additional information about the project and how you could help.
