This "Panama Jack" fishermen's hat is ideal head, ear, and neck protection outside at night in Uganda.

Just spray a little deet around the exterior of the hat to ward off the mosquitoes without having to put the deet directly on your skin or a bald head! Having said this, it should be noted I have only actually used this one time in thirteen trips to Uganda.

I should add that my children told me I cannot be seen wearing this hat in the United States, nor could I allow anyone to photograph me wearing it in Uganda. They are right, it does not look like much, but it is very effective for the purpose I suggest it for. Not sure where inland folks can find this item. I live on the Florida Gulf Coast where fisherman actually wear these hats to protect their ears and neck from sunburn.
